Medvedev In Wimbledon

Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov and Aslan Karatsev will probably be banned from playing in Wimbledon this season, according to Sportico. As per the popular media outlet, the tennis tournament “will break from the rest of the tennis world by refusing to allow Russians to compete” following the invasion of Ukraine from Russia. As per the report, it is not clear if the Belarussian players will be allowed to compete at the All England Club.

Russian and Belarussian players have been allowed to compete on the ATP and WTA tours, but not under their country’s name or flag.

There will be a lot of discussions about this topic. Many asked the Russian players to be vocal against the Russian invasion. However, it is also understandable that being outspoken against Putin could be extremely dangerous for the tennis players and their families back in Russia.

After winning a match in Dubai, Andrey Rublev vented his frustration against the war, but probably that is not considered enough.
