Nishikori and Ferrer to fight for a place in the Madrid final

Kei Nishikori and David Ferrer set a great clash in the Madrid semifinal.

Nishikori

The Japanese is playing a great tennis on clay to win his 9th consecutive match in the dirt. During the last 2 weeks Kei has won the 500ATP in Barcelona and now e is in the semis in Madrid. He has achieved this feat dropping just 1 set and defeating very good players on the way.

The difference between the Japanese and Feliciano Lopez was 1 break per set as the Spaniard surrendered his service in the 7th game (4-3) of the first and the 9th (5-4) of the second set. Kei commented “I was trying to be really aggressive because I know his game has a lot of slice and I have an advantage with my strokes. I was concentrating on the important points and I finished well today.”

Ferrer

David had the tricky task to play and defeat Mad Max Gulbis 7-6 (3) 6-3. In the first set neither David nor Ernests managed to achieve a break, so it was Ferrer to grab the opener at the tiebreak (7-3). In the second set Gulbis finally got a break in the 5th game (3-2), but then he imploded to lose 4 consecutive games and the match. Match Stats

David was very happy by his recent tennis “These two matches I’ve been playing really well. I’m happy because of the level I’ve been showing. After the first match this week, I was a little bit nervous. In Monte Carlo I had good feelings. This week I have had those good feelings once again.”
