Naomi Osaka was not even 2 years old when Serena Williams won her first slam at the US Open back in 1999. Fast forward (a lot) and after almost 20 years the Japanese is facing her childhood hero in the final of that very slam.

During a recent press conference, the upcoming Japanese shared the fact that one of her dreams was already fulfilled: playing Serena in a slam final.
Naomi revealed
“Even when I was a little kid, I always dreamed that I would play Serena in a final of a Grand Slam. Just the fact that it’s happening, I’m very happy about it.
I really feel like I don’t want to overthink this match, so I’m not going to think that she’s so much better than she was in Miami [when Naomi demolished the American 6-3 6-2].
I’m just going to go out there and play. Since I already know she’s a good player, I don’t want to be surprised if she plays better or not.”
