INDIAN WELLS. Thiem will not play while Djokovic may also not challenge Nadal, Medvedev in the desert

Dominic Thiem not confortable in starting his season in Indian Wells and Miami

Dominic Thiem

Dominic Thiem is among the top players who will not compete in Indian Wells and Miami. The Austrian champion got injured to his wrist in June 2021 when playing in Mallorca. He decided not to have any wrist operation to skip the entire second half of the last season and the beginning of the actual one. He announced that he would be back only for the clay-court season.

This was his message.

Will Djokovic play in Indian Wells?

Unfortunately, it is pretty sure that also Novak Djokovic will not play in the desert. Indian Wells is a tournament for fully vaccinated players and Novak decided not to get his jab. Curiously, Djokovic is still on the entry list, but a formal announcement about his withdrawal is expected in the next few hours.

Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas are set to be the first 4 seeds at the tournament.
