Ashleigh Barty and Danielle Rose Collins are the 2 Australian Open finalists and both of them will skip Indian Wells and Miami. Ashleigh admitted that she struggled a lot from a physical point of view after winning the domestic major.
She released the following statement:
“I wanted to share an update on my schedule for the coming months. Unfortunately my body has not recovered the way I’d hoped after the Australian Open and I have not been able to adequately prepare for Indian Wells and Miami.
I don’t believe I am at the level necessary to win these events and as a result I have decided to withdraw from both tournaments. I love these events and am sad not to be there competing but getting my body right must be my focus.
My aim is to represent my country at the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup event in April. After missing the BJK Cup last year I can’t wait to wear the green and gold again.”
Will Raducanu play in Indian Wells?
There are still some doubts about the participation of Emma Raducanu in Indian Wells. The US Open champion had to retire when playing her opening match in Guadalajara because of a hip injury. Later, she decided not to play the following tournament in Monterrey to have a couple of weeks to recover.

At the moment ranked no.11, the American played her last match on the 15th of February when she had to retire when playing against world no.34 Marketa Vondrousova in the 1st round and the scoreline was 2-6 3-0 .
Until now, during this year the American has a compiled 6-2 match record. Danielle Rose Collins’s most significant performance of the present year was reaching the final at the Australian Open.
