Fernando Verdasco is back to win an ATP title after a 4 years’ drought.
The Spaniard had to take on his fellow compatriot Nicolas Almagro to defeat him 6-3 7-6 (4). Last time Fernando won a tournament was in Barcelona 2010. After that he has lost 6 consecutive finals.(see details)
Fernando: it has been a long time!
“It’s been a long time since I’ve won a singles title. It’s a very important day for me to win a tournament after a few years, and after the injury in my knee the last couple years, not feeling so well and not being able to play a few matches in a row feeling well. I’m so happy for everything in general.”
Fernando now will fly straight to Monte-Carlo where he is going to clash against Cilic in the opener. Head to head is 4-4
