It seemed as the tournament in Katowice had one name already written on the trophy: Agnieszka Radwanska. That wasn’t true.
Agnieszka demolished Alize Cornet in the semifinal opener serving a nasty bagel (6-0) to the Frenchwoman. Then just out of the blue Alize got an early 4-0 lead in the second set to win 6-2.
Things got even more complicated in the 3rd set as Aga got a 3-0 lead to implode again and lose the decider 6-4. Eventually Cornet won the match scoring 6 points less than Radwanska. Match Stats

Cornet now 1 step away from winning her 4th career title to comment “It was an epic match today against Aga and a great win for me at the end. I’m already playing my second final of the year at the beautiful tournament in Katowice, and I’m enjoying my time so much here. I can’t wait to be on court again tomorrow trying to go for the title!”
