Emma Raducanu had a rather tough experience against Danka Kovinic when she played in the second round of the Australian Open. After clinching a strong 3-0 lead in the first set, the British sensation looks to be in control of the match. However, Emma started to struggle to lose 5 consecutive games.
Indeed, the US Open champion was having huge issues with a blister on her right hand. Eventually, the British teenager had to hit an enormous number of sliced forehands and she was clearly unable to serve properly because of the pain.
Nevertheless, Emma still had her chances and she lost only in 3 sets. During the press conference that followed the contest, Raducanu commented:
“I was struggling with a hand before the match, so some people on my team didn’t want me to play.”
I hit more slice forehands today than in the last two or three years. I learned that my slice forehand isn’t that bad!”.
She carried on despite this. Not for an hour but for a couple. Took it to the decider, made a statement that she never believes in giving up.pic.twitter.com/kt9qZgqwZR
