Na Li reaches the semi-final in Indian Wells

Na Li wins the Australian Open final re-match against a tricky Dominika Cibulkova.

The world no. 2 had a rather tough time to tame the spirited Slovakian. After winning the first set, Na Li found herself one set break in the 2nd and 3rd set. The Chinese was able to recover that deficit only in the third set to wrap up the match after an exhausting 2 hours and 36 minutes. Match Stats

Na Li: Here it was different than Melbourne

Referring to their last match in Australia the Chinese commented “Here was different than Australia – of course the score should be different, but today she played more aggressive. I felt like if I stepped back a bit she would step into the balls more, and in the second set my level dropped and it gave her the chances, and she was getting a lot of winners in.

“I think there’s still a little bit of a problem with my level staying the same from beginning to end, but it’s good information, and I’ll take it and just try to improve my tennis for the next day and next match.”

The semis vs. Pennetta

Na Li will play a surprising Flavia Pennetta in the semi-final. Head to head is 2-2. In theory the Chinese is the favourite, but she now has to recover from this tough marathon.
