Zvonareva crashes out in Indian Wells opener. She still optimistic

Vera Zvonareva is trying hard to get back to her tennis.

Now ranked world no. 634, Vera quit tennis in 2012 to try to recover from a shoulder injury. The Russian went for the “smooth” root, but at a certain point she had to bow and decide to undergo an operation.

Now Vera is back to play, but she is still rather rusty to record a 1-4 win / loss record. In Indian Wells the Russian lost to world no. 40 Shuai Peng 4-6 6-0 7-5, but she doesn’t sound too worried.

The Russian commented ”It was a tough match. took a little risk in the last game because I had to and unfortunately it didn’t work out for me. I made a couple of mistakes and I think that helped her to break me in the last game. I think my game is better than it was in Australia, so I can’t complain too much.”
