Roger Federer is a new man!
The Maestro has won a great title in Dubai beating Novak Djokovic and an in-form Thomaz Berdych in the final.
Roger displayed a great degree of confidence. His baseline shots were solid and consistent, his aggressive attitude was a winner and he played every single point with huge determination and focus.
The new racket
Finally Roger squared up with the new racket. Roger started the experiment last year’s summer to drop the bigger frame of for the American swing (he didn’t have much time to test it). During the winter break the Maestro had much more time to test it and now he is 100% happy.
Federer’s shots look more accurate (he shanks much less than in the past) and he seems to have more power. His backhand return (a big weakness for Roger) has improved a lot.

“I’m just happy that now it’s clear, I don’t have to think of it, and I can just play tennis. It’s not in the back of my mind anymore, Is this racquet good or not? I was convinced in practice, but then you hope that the results are going to follow and they did.
“When you can play that way, you’re more free, you have an open mind. That’s when you are more successful. I’m very happy.”
Roger will now head to Indian Wells with a huge confidence. This is going to be a rather interesting year for him.
