Ferrer and Bellucci to clash in Rio quarters

David Ferrer and Thomaz Bellucci will clash for a place in the semifinal in Rio de Janeiro

Ferrer

David defeated Delbonis in straight set in 1 hour and 26 minutes. Ferrer was in full control for the entire match. Maybe the only awkward moment for the Spaniard was when he dropped his serve in the 9th game of the 1st set. So to win the opener David had to get to the tie break.

The 2nd set was rather simple for the world no.4 that broke Delbonis 3 times without dropping his serve. Match Stats

Bellucci

Now ranked world no. 130 Thomaz Bellucci couldn’t choose a better venue to improve his rankings. The home favourite defeated seed no.7 Pico Monaco in 3 sets. The key moment for Thomaz was the 6th game of the 2nd set when he managed to break Monaco and win 8 games out of 9. Bellucci had a 4-0 lead in the decider to finally win 6-3. Match Stats.

This will be 5th match between Bellucci and Ferrer. Head to head is 3-1 for David, but Thomaz has won the last one.
