Sloane Stephens reaches the 4th round in Melbourne

Another victory for Sloane Stephens at the Australian Open to get an interesting rematch against Vika Azarenka.

Sloane is not playing at her best. Few days ago she had to retire from Sydney for an injury to her wrist and she is not really convincing in Melbourne.

In the third round she has defeated world no.47 Elina Svitolina 7-5 6-4 and now she is ready to have a re-match against Vika Azarenka.

This is a highly anticipated match as Sloane last year lost to Vika in Melbourne after the Belarus took a controversial medical time out that for most was just a way to break Sloane’s comeback in the second set (Vika was about to have a nervous breakdown). But to be honest at the end of the day Azarenka won that match 6-1 6-4… so she was clearly the best player.

Sloane: It will be exciting

The American doesn’t have any problem with Vika anymore “I don’t even remember half the stuff that happened. It’s okay. Last year has nothing to do with this year. It’s a totally different year. A lot of things have happened.

So, you know, I’m just looking forward to getting back on the court … hopefully on the big court. It will be exciting.”

Azarenka:  I have great memories

Also Vika doesn’t have any problem at all with what has happened the previous year “I have great memories of last year. That’s all I keep for me. We left it all last year here, and that’s what is important for me.”
