Tennys Sandgren and Christopher Eubanks were about to compete in what would have been the most interesting first round in the Challenger that is now staged in Cary. However, things got quite nasty and quick after Tennys defaulted only after one game.
Apparently, the American player hit a lines judge with a tennis ball in the second game. After a long discussion, the organization had no choice but to default Sandgren who posted the following tweet.
So tonight I got hit in the nuts by a ball kid toss with a little too much mustard, slapped the wayward ball into the fence, which collided with a refs tushy as he was walking to the other side, resulting in a default.

The commentator said:
“Chris Eubanks is going to pull through after what appears to be a disqualification on Tennys Sandgren for a frustration post-point where he might’ve made contact with somebody on the court,”

Indeed Sandgren was defaulted. After a long discussion with the supervisor, he heads over to shake hands with Eubanks. Gets a smattering of applause as he heads off.

At the moment ranked no.103, the American played his last match on the 31st of August when he lost to world no.53 Ilya Ivashka 7-6(3) 6-3 6-4 in the 1st round in U.S. Open (draw).

Christopher Eubanks in 2021
Ranked world no.199, Eubanks played his last match on the 30th of August when he lost to world no.52 Francis Tiafoe 7-6(8) 5-7 6-3 6-4 in the 1st round in U.S. Open (draw).
Until now, during this year Eubanks owns a compiled 19-16 win-loss record. Eubanks clinched 1 title in the Orlando 2 Challenger.
