Australian Open ladies draw: Serena Williams the super favourite

Serena Williams is the overwhelming favourite to win yet another slam. Her coach (and partner) Patrick Mouratoglou has just stated that the American may even win all slams.

The world no.1 won’t have the easiest opener has she will face local favourite Ashley Barty. The Australian teenager is still far away from “Serena’s  league”, but she will definitely have the back of the local crowd.

The newcomers

2014 may mark an interesting year for newcomers in the WTA circuit and the Australian Open could be the beginning of it.

World no.31 Genie Bouchard had a very good draw and she has definitely a shot at reaching the quarters.

World no.13 Sloane Stephens will try to have another great Australian Open (last year she has managed to beat Serena!!!) and she is expected to reach the 4th round where she may face Vika Azarenka (that has beaten her last year in Melbourne among huge controversy).

That’s not all as Belinda Bencic and Ana Konjuh (both 16 years old) may pose some threat if they come out from the qualifications.

Game on!
