We had a wonderful final in Auckland.
The two former no.1 Ana Ivanovic and Venus Williams played a great match.
Ana was having a very comfortable match as she was leading 6-2 5-3 without much effort. Then the Serb got a bit shaky and Venus did step in to win the following 4 games and grab the second set 7-5. Ana showed again to have gained lots of confidence to immediately get the break in the first game of the third set. That break was decisive and the Ana won the last set 6-4.

Ivanovic was elated after the match to comment “It was very tough. Venus showed again what a great sport she is in what she’s done today and over all these years.”
From Venus
The American was surprised by Ivanovic’s game to say “She played so well. We’ve played a lot of great matches and this is another one. I just kept fighting despite the odds. She was playing so well.”
This is Ana’s 12th career title and you can bet she is going for more in 2014!
