What a good match for Genie Bouchard. After defeating Sam Stosur in the previous tie, Genie makes the life rather difficult to Agnieszka Radwanska.
The young Canadian showed some resilience. After playing not at her 100% in the first set, she has managed to save 3 match points in the tie break of the second set to bring the match to the third set. Then Agnieszka’s experience kicked in to give the match to the Pole.

At the end of the day Genie was happy by her tennis to comment “I felt like I didn’t play well in the first set, I lost a few games in a row. But I was happy to at least turn it around and make it a match.
I was a bit tired at end and she kept her level up all the way. It was encouraging that I was able to raise my game, but I need to keep that level more consistently.”
“I was trying to stay with her in the second set, but she’s a tricky player and gets a lot of balls back. I missed a few of my finish shots. It’s always disappointing to lose, I need to do some more work and get more consistency into my game. But I did serve well and put pressure on her. I just hit a few too many mistakes.” She concluded.
The Canadian team has lost the tie as Milos Raonic recorded an incredible loss to world no.288 Panfil.
The impression is that Genie is already a top 10 player. 2014 will tell if this impression is true.
