Stefanos Tsitsipas talks about the struggle that Greece has been going through in the last few weeks

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Wildfires

Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently in Toronto, where he has just reached the quarter-finals after a good win over Karen Khachanov. The newly-minted the world number 3 had a nice gesture after the match when he signed to the camera writing: “Prey for Greece”

As of now, Greece is battered by ravaging wildfires that are doing incredible damage to the country. Stefanos has already disclosed that he will do whatever he can to provide his support.

During the press conference that followed his match against Khachanov, Stefanos Tsitsipas commented:

“It’s been in the back of my mind. I’m always there to support them and show my love. I’m very proud of where I come from, so it is important that this country heals and goes back to normal and right now things are really difficult in that specific region of Athens.

People are suffering and I just want to raise awareness and also have people help a little bit.

Many people say it was man-made by foreigners. I really hope it wasn’t like this but you know it’s something that you cannot control sometimes. It has destroyed landscapes, it has destroyed forested areas and it’s really sad to experience that once again.

We had this recently too a couple of years ago so it’s not nice to see this back-to-back in such a short time.”
