The decision is very very strange as the organisation gave the prestigious recognition also to Serena Williams (world no.1 of the WTA rankings), to the Bryans (world no.1 of the ATP doubles) and to Errani and Vinci (world no.1 of the WTA doubles
ITF: Djokovic was more consistent
Ricci Bitti, the head of ITF, commented “Rafael Nadal made a remarkable comeback from injury with two Grand Slam wins, but it is Novak Djokovic’s consistent results across all four Slams, Davis Cup and the ATP World Tour Finals that see him named World Champion”
