There is bad news from Roger Federer that decided to withdraw from Toronto and Cincinnati. The Swiss legend has never managed to fully recover from the knee injury that took him out for the entire 2020 season and part of 2021 and he did not feel fit to play the 2 ATP1000 preceding the US Open.

There are still doubts about his participation in the US Open and how long he will keep on trying to play.

Sascha Zverev, Matteo Berrettini, Milos Raonic and Pablo Carreno Busta also decided not to play in Canada.
