Disappointed Stosur wants to bounce back in 2014

Sam Stosur didn’t have a great 2012 and the 2013 was even worse.  Her US Open title achieved in 2011 by trashing Serena Williams in the final seems to be rather far away and Sam wants to get somewhat back to it.

In 2013 the Australian has won a couple of minor titles in Carlsbad (d. Azarenka) and in Osaka (d. Bouchard), but that was not enough to rescue her from crashing out the top 10 and end up the season as world no.18.

Sam: The last 2 years have been disappointing…

During a recent interview Sam expressed her willingness to have a better 2014 to comment ”It is what it is. The last couple of years have been pretty disappointing, so hopefully this year I can really pick up from that and play well. That’s what I want to do, and I know if I play well then I’ve got a chance of doing half decent.”

… and about her preparation

”This year we’ve been able to do a lot more on foot. ”Last year I did heaps of bike and strength work because I wasn’t able to really put weight through my legs for a long time. So this year I’ve been able to do a lot more of what we wanted to do last year, and hopefully that’s gonna pay dividends earlier on.” She added

Sam will try to have a better January. In fact, in the last two years the “Australian swing” was a disaster. In both years she has won only 1 match out of 4. Ouch…!!!!!
