New Year… new coach!
Maria Sharapova appointed Dutchman Sven Groeneveld as her new coach. The announcement came after a weird stint with Jimmy Connors. In fact, Maria hired Jimbo in June to then part ways ust after one match in August.
Now the Russian beauty choses Groeneveld, former mentor of Mary Pierce and Monica Sels, to climb up the rankings (now she is ranked no.4).

Sharapova posted on Facebook “I’m happy to announce my official partnership with Sven Groeneveld. We’ve been working together since I got back on the court, and after seeing him on the opposing side for so many years,
I’m excited to have him become a part of my team. It has been a very seamless transition and I have had a lot of fun with the hard work we have put in so far. Looking forward to the year ahead.”
