Denis Shapovalov is about to play a rather exciting third round in Wimbledon against the great Andy Murray. The Canadian sensation has fantastic tennis on grass, and curiously he has never managed to go beyond the second round in Wimbledon. Shapovalov won the championships as a junior back in 2016.
Denis Shapovalov explained why he is so happy about playing against Andy Murray:
“I think it’s a great moment for me. It’s going to be my first time on Centre Court at Wimbledon, so it’s definitely super exciting for my team and me and my career, definitely a match I grew up wanting to play against Andy in the spotlight like this.”
Denis Shapovalov also admitted that he loved watching Andy Murray competing against Oscar Otte in the second round:
“And, honestly, just as a tennis fan, it was fun to watch…as a fan of Andy’s to see him back and moving so well, especially those last two sets, how he turned it around…. It felt like he was the player that he was a couple of years back.

Currently the world no.12, the Canadian has achieved a 19-13 win-loss record in 2021. The Canadian is playing in Wimbledon where he overcame Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4 4-6 6-3 5-7 6-4 and Pablo Andujar w/o.
Denis Shapovalov will take on the world no.118 Andy Murray in the 3rd round on Friday at 6:30 pm on Centre Court. They have never competed against each other up to now in top events.
Shapovalov reached the final in Geneva (Gonet Geneva Open).

Currently ranked no.118, Andy achieved a 8-4 win-loss record in 2021. Murray is currently having a run in Wimbledon where he bested Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-4 6-3 5-7 6-3 and Oscar Otte 6-3 4-6 4-6 6-4 6-2.
