ATP Rankings: Ferrer world no.3, Murray no.4. Monfils climbs 11 places!

This week’s rankings have been affected by the ATP in Shanghai won again by Novak Djokovic.

Rafa

Even if Rafa didn’t have a great tournament to lose in the semifinal against an exceptional Del Potro, the Spaniard has consolidated his lead as he didn’t have any point to defend in Shanghai and Nole confirmed last year’s result .

Ferrer

David is having a strange period as he is definitely not playing at his best to record some disappointing results during the last few weeks. But an inactive Murray (operated to his back) allowed David to reach the world no.3 spot.  If David can’t get good results, his rank will suffer in the future as he needs to defend the points form the titles in Valencia and Paris (1500pts) and the various pints for winning Auckland and Buenos Aires and the semifinal in Melbourne.

Monfils

Besides beating a wobbling Roger Federer in Shanghai, Gael is getting more and more confident. Gael is now world no.31after climbing 11 spots. He is going for more.

The biggest winner and loser

The biggest winner was Dudi Sela that has won the Challenger in Tashkent to climb 19 spots (no world no. 68).

The Biggest loser was Jack Socks that has lost last year’s points (gained for winning the challenger in Tiburon) while this year he didn’t qualify for the main draw at the Shanghai Masters. Socks lost 19 places to be ranked world no. 97.
