“I really hope that she gets better” Murray and his support for Naomi Osaka

This is what Andy Murray said about Naomi Osaka's situation

Naomi Osaka And Naomi Osaka

Andy Murray and Naomi Osaka, even if they are not so close, share a very nice relationship. Naomi was very supportive when commenting about Murray’s struggle and comeback, and the Brit also has some kind words for the Japanese sensation.

Naomi Osaka hit the headlines when she decided to retire from the French Open a few weeks ago. Previously, Naomi announced that she would not have participated to any press conference during the French major, citing mental health. The slams didn’t take it nicely and they threatened to suspend her if she would have kept her position of not taking part in the pressers.

When asked to elaborate about Naomi Osaka’s situation, Andy Murray commented:

“I really hope that she gets better and that she gets the help that she needs to feel better. I believe that tennis will work with her and her team to find solutions to whatever it is that’s triggering her anxiety or depression. I wish it’d been handled differently because I don’t think anybody came out of it well.

I can’t believe her team, if the press was what was making her feel depressed or anxious, hadn’t communicated that to the Grand Slams or to the WTA to try to find a solution around it.”

Murray was critical about the decision to threaten Osaka to default her to say:

“And I don’t think it was a good look for the tours in terms of wanting to default her. As soon as she said on social media that she’d been dealing with depression, the stance from the Slams and tennis changed and was quite different.

But I do feel if I went to the Grand Slams [and said] that this is what I’m dealing with, and spoke to them directly, they would try to help.”

Will Naomi Osaka play in Wimbledon?

There are still dolls if Naomi Osaka will play Wimbledon in a couple of weeks. The organization of the Championships said that they didn’t receive any former withdrawal from Naomi Osaka’s team. However, Naomi withdrew from the WTA500 event that is currently played in Berlin and was a warm-up event for Wimbledon.
