16 years old Belinda Bencic gets to the second round in Osaka!

OK..you may wonder: “Who is now Belinda Bencic?”. Well.. you will see it in the not so distant future!

At 16th years of age, Belinda  is one of the brightest prospect in the women’s tennis. This year she has already won the Roland Garros and Wimbledon Juniores and she can already trade rallies with top players.

In Tokyo she has lost to Petra Kvitova (the winner of the tournament!) 7-5 6-4 scoring only 9 point less then Petra! In Osaka she had to play the qualifications to beat Mandy Minella in straight sets (actually an “ouch” 6-3 6-2) and then Rodionova 5-7 6-2 5-0 (the Australian retired in the last game to avoid the humiliation of a bagel when she was 15-30 down … disgusting stuff!).

The young Swiss didn’t stop in the qualification to even beat Lauren Davis (another very interesting prospect) 6-3 7-5.

Next vs. Sam Stosur.

In the next match Belinda (now ranked world no.279) will play world no.20 Sam Stosur. Of course, she is not expected to win that match.. but what if she does it?

We will hear more about this young lady, stay tuned!
