Bad news for Maria’s fans as the Russian beauty won’t be able to compete in the WTA Tour Finals because of an injury to her shoulder.
Maria has been side-lined from tennis practically for more than 3 months as the only apparition she recently had was a 1 match loss in Cincinnati (defeated by Sloane Stephens). Before the Maria retired from all tournaments after Wimbledon, not to play also the US Open and the rest of the tournaments.
Maria: I am very disappointed
The world no.3 is deeply unhappy about her situation to comment “I am very disappointed that I will not be able to play in the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships this year,” Sharapova exclaimed in a statement.
“The fans in Istanbul have welcomed us each year with such intense passion and warmth; I will sincerely miss the energy and excitement they brought to the year-end tournament.
