ATP Rankings. Federer back again to no.6, Wawrinka at career high. Sousa makes a giant leap!

Last week we had two 250 ATP tournaments in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok that helped to reshuffle a bit the rankings.

Federer – Berdych

Roger and Tomas are doing a sort of ballet as they keep on exchanging their rankings. Reaching the final in Bangkok helped Berdych to overtake King Roger by just 5 points. Tomas is now ranked world no.5 and Roger no.6

Wawrinka

One Swiss loses, another wins. Stanislas Wawrinka is having the best season of his career to overtake Richard Gasquet and get a 9th rank (career high). Stan lost in the semifinal of the Malaysia Open to Julien Benneteau and Richard loss some points as he couldn’t defend last year’s title in Bangkok to lose this year in the semifinal against Milos Raonic.

Sousa

The hero of the week, Joao Sousa wins his maiden tournament in Kuala Lumpur to climb 26 place, take the rank no.51 and achieve a career high.

Mayer and Stepanek

The challenger in Orleans gave a strong boost in the rankings to the winner Leonardo Mayer (up 16 places to world no.78) , and the runner-up Radek Stepanek (up 8 places to world no.43)

Goffin

David Goffin has been side-lined after undergoing a wrist injury, so he couldn’t defend his title in the Orleans Challenger to lose 22 positions an  being ranked world no., 93.
