Azarenka commits 15 double faults to crash out in Beijing Opener

This is not a very good moment for Vika Azarenka.

After a good summer when Vika won Cincinnati (beating Serena Williams) and she has reached two finals in New York and Carlsbad, the world no.2 is now struggling to even win a match.

After crashing out in Tokyo in the first round at the hands of Venus Williams (Vika was really struggling from a fitness point of view), Azarenka now loses in Beijing by world no.43 Andrea Petkovic.

15 double faults!

The terrible stat was Vika’s double faults (15 in 14 service games). The Belarus final scored only 1 point less than Andrea (93 vs 94), but that wan’t really enough especially for the world no.2. Match Stats.

Vika: It was an awful match

Azarenka was quite unhappy by her performance to comment “It was an awful match and very bad performance from me, so not much to say. It happens once, twice a year to every player, and happened to me today. If I’m going to be doing it again, I probably should have taken a longer break and just prepared myself. I don’t feel like I was ready to play.

Petko vs. Kuznetsova

Andrea will play former world no.1 Svetlana Kuznetsova  the second round. Head to head is 2-2
