Radwanska survives Voegle in the Beijing Opener

Tough start of the tournament for the defending champion.

This wasn’t really easy to see as Agnieszka Radwanska was meant to beat world no. 56 Stefanie Voegle without many problems in the opener in Beijing, but the Swiss played a really good match from the very beginning. To pose a serious threat to the Pole.

Stefanie displayed an incredibly aggressive tennis and Agnieszka was really struggling to counter her game. After a couple of break exchange, Voegle had the decisive break in the 7th game to win the opener 6-4.

In the second set, Agnieszka got an important break in the 6th game, to then being broke back again in the 9th game and win the set 6-4 (another break).

In the decider, after exchanging breaks in the first two games, Agnieszka got the decisive break in the very last game to win 6-4. The match ended after 2 hours and 14 minutes.

Agnieszka will play world no. 43 Madison Key that has defeated Dominika Cibulkova 6-4 6-3. Head to head is 2-0 for Agnieszka.
