Venus Williams beats Genie Bouchard to reach the semi-finals Tokyo!

That’s a great Venus!

The former world no.1 plays some vintage tennis to beat a very good Genie Bouchard. The match was a great one with both players displaying a wonderful tennis. Actually both were returning magnificently to continuously break their opponent (8 breaks for Venus and 4 for Geni). The match ended after 3 hours!

The good news for the young Canadian is that she was completely up to the task both with her tennis and the nerves. It’s difficult to think she won’t break into the top 10 within a couple of years.

Both players had great comments toward each other.

Venus: She’s going to be a great player

Venus was rather enthusiastic about Genie to comment “She played so well. She’s going to be a great player — she’s already a great player — and it was just a fight to the end.”

Genie: She’s a legend

Bouchard was still happy about her performance to comment “I watched her when I was younger,” she said on the WTA’s website. “She’s a legend and a really great player. So I was really excited to play against her — but I didn’t take my chances enough, and against a player like Venus you need to.”

Next vs. Kvitova

Venus will play Petra Kvitova in the semifinal. Head to head is 1-1.
