The good point for Genie is that she has won the match even if Jelena was playing a good tennis. The key was in the first set when both players were playing at the same level, but it was the more aggressive approach from Bouchard that gave her the opener.
In the second set Jelena imploded to find herself 0-3 and 2 breaks down in no time. Then the world no.10 managed to break Genie and hold serve to get to a 2-3 scoreline. Time for a sensational come back? Not really! The Canadian hold her nerves to win the set 6-2.
The quarter finals
Genie will play in the quarters either against Venus Williams that has defeated an unfit Azarenka 6-4 6-2 or Simona Halep. Genie has played against none of them.
