ATP Rankings: Gulbis, Garcia-Lopez and Yen-Shun the big winners. Simon closer to top 10

No changes this week in the top 10 where Djokovic is still the world no.1 (not for long though) and Federer has a flimsy margin over world no.6 Tomas Berdych.

So let’s see the winners of the week.

Gulbis

After winning in St. Petersburg, Mad Max Gulbis climbs 9 places to be ranked world no.27. The entertaining Latvian wants to be seeded in Melbourne (achieved!)  to then break into the top 20 and try to give a shot at the top 10.

Garcia-Lopez

The St. Petersburg runner up had also a magnificent week to go up 13 places to be ranked no. 61. He is still a bit far from his career high (23), but if he keeps on playing like he did during last week he should get there.

Yen-Shun

Winning a challenger (Kaoshuing) doesn’t really make headlines, but it helps. The Taiwanese climbs 12 places to be ranked world no. 52.

Simon

Gilles had a wonderful fortnight to celebrate his second new-born by winning his second title in Metz. This win allowed Gilles to be ranked world no.14 (2 places up).

Kukushkin

The biggest winner of the week was Mikhail  Kukushkin that has won his second back to back Challenger in Turkey (before in Istanbul, now in Izmir) to go up 24 places and be ranked world no.100.

Cilic and Hanescu

Cilic and Hanescu are the biggest losers (down 11 places) . Marin is still serving his 9 months ban for doping.
