What a nice story in Metz.
The two Frenchmen Tsonga and Simon, seeded no1 and no.2, were clashing for the title for the delight of home crowd.
Simon was coming from a very good tournament as he didn’t concede a single set to his opponents till the final while Tsonga was struggling to find his best tennis to have to recover twice from a set down in the quarters against Tobia Kamke and in the semifinal against Florian Mayer.
In the final Simon didn’t have many problems to concede only 7 games and score a total 59 points vs. Jo’s 47. Match Stats.

Unfortunately my wife and children couldn’t be here today. It was a great moment for me because I missed the birth of our first child and this time I was able to be there. Jo was defending this title for the second consecutive year to comment “I’m sad about losing the final today, but I’m happy with my week. Gilles was just better than me today. He’s a great player and he was very solid during the whole match.”
