Injured Sharapova retires from Tokyo and Beijing, in doubt for Istanbul

Another (very) excellent retirement from the Asian Swing.

Maria Sharapova announced that she won’t be able to play any soon as she is still coping with her shoulder bursitis. This is the same injury that made Maria to undergo an operation in 2008 that posed many threats to her fabulous career.

The Russian beauty will miss Tokyo (in 2012 she reached the quarters losing to Sam Stosur) and Beijing (2012 runner-up to Victoria Azarenka).

Maria’s main goal is to be back for the final show down in Istanbul where last year she reached the final losing to Serena Williams.

Unfortunately the Pan Pacific Tournament has been hit by some other important withdrawal as Serena Williams, Sabine Lisicki and Maria Kirilenko won’t play.
