Nadal to become world no.1 if he reaches the final in Beijing

Rafa will plausibly become the world no.1 very soon.

It’s time for Rafa to claim his (well deserved) first spot in the rankings.

The King of Clay has become also the King of Hard Courts after having achieved a remarkable 23-0 record on hard courts.

It’s a funny tennis world

Rafa has really gone over everybody’s imagination in 2013. He has a 62-3 win/loss record. (see details). The funny part is that he was the guy that has played the most in 2013 (see stats) … that is weird for a player that wanted to take it easyafter an injury!

Another funny part is that Rafa has lost only 3 matches. The first was on Clay against Zeballos (not a top player) in Vina Del Mar. The second matchit was against Nole in his stronghold (Monaco) where he didn’t lost a match till that point. The third one was a funny loss to the then world no.135 Steve Darci in the first round in Wimbledon! So .. none of them were really expected.

How Rafa will become the world no.1

Now Rafa is just 260 points shy from Novak Djokovic (see rankings), but it seems inevitable that he will become the world no.1 quite soon.

In fact, Nole needs to defend 3010pts from now till the end of the season as last year he has won Beijing, Shanghai and the Word Tour Finals. The last 10 points came from a very lousy Bercy when he lost to Sam Querry. In the second round.

Rafa? He doesn’t have a single point to defend!

So… easy stuff for Rafa that he just need to reach the final in Beijing to become the world no.1 as he would get +300 points and if Nole win he won’t get any extra (as he is the defending Champion).

In theory Rafa can also become the world no.1 in the very unluckily scenario that he doesn’t play at all in Beijing and Nole reaches only the semifinal as he would lose 320 pts.

Well deserved Rafa, well deserved!
