Nadal destroys Robredo to reach the US Open semifinal

It’s a Rafa’s show.

The world no.2 keeps his bid for this US Open and he seems unbeatable. Rafa didn’t drop a single service game since the beginning of the tournament and with Robredo he hasn’t even conceded a break point.

In the match against Robredo, Rafa was just another category to wrap up the first set in just 22 minutes after dropping only 5 points. The other two sets were just normal stuff. The most amazing thing is that Robredo came to this match possibly playing the best tennis of his career also beating (a declining) Roger Federer in straight sets in the previous round. That was not enough for Rafa.

From Rafa

Nadal has now achieved an incredible 20-0 record on hard courts in 2013 to comment “I think I played my best match of the US Open this year,”

From Tommy

Robredo was astonished by his defeat to say “I started a little bit tight, and he was up very quick. Then [there] was nothing else to do, he was too good. I wasn’t able to get into the rhythm… and he was hitting very, very fast and with a lot of confidence.”

Next vs. Gasquet

Rafa will play a surprising Richard Gasquet in the semifinal. The French has beating another Spaniard, David Ferrer, 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3. Head to head is 10-0 for Rafa that is the overwhelmed favourite to reach the final… and win the tournament… if Nole agrees!
