Incredible: Teenager Victoria Duval upsets Sam Stosur at the US Open

What a story!

The American teenager Victoria Duval upsets 2011 US Open champion (at the US Open!)  in her opener in New York.

Although Victoria was born in Miami, she grew up with her parents in Haiti. Now ranked world no.296 (see ranking progression), the young American started to play tennis when she was 7 years old and now she is one of the most interesting prospect in the women’s circuit.

The match with Sam Stosur lasted 2 hours and 39 minutes with Sam not playing at her best, but still, it was a great performance from the American.

Victoria:  it’s a great feeling

The teenager expressed her joy with a huge smile and jumping up and down the court after the match to comment “Obviously it’s a great feeling to beat a past champion. And Sam is amazing. Although she didn’t play nearly her best today, I played amazing, so I’ll take it.”

Next. Vs. Hantuchova

Victoria will play Daniela Hantchova in the next round. Daniela defeated Maria Sanchez from USA 7-5 6-2.

Can Victoria make it again? Why not?
