Rankings: Azarenka consolidates her world no.2 spot, Wozniacki world no.8, Jankovic closer to the top 10. Venus Williams in free fall.

After Cincinanti we had some movements in the WTA rankings.

Azarenka

She didn’t really move in the rankings, but she consolidates her lead over world no.3 Maria Sharapova. Before Cincinnati Vika had only 40 pints more than the Russian Beauty, now after winning the title she has +700pts.  Needless to say, Serena is still far… very far.

Wozniacki

Caroline is doing everything she can to get back at the top of the rankings. After reaching the quarters in Cincinnati she climbed a couple of positions to be ranked world no.8

Jankovic

Reaching the semifinal in Cincinnati helped the always gracious Jelena Jankovic to go 4 places up to be ranked world no.11. The former world no.1 is going for more.

Venus

What a pity. Venus Williams can’t really get back any close to her best tennis. After another disastrous tournament (she lost in the second round to Elena Vesnina), Venus loses 23 positions to be ranked world no.60.

Time to pull the plug? Probably yes… with 44 career titles and 13 slams… well you can call it a career… a really good one!
