Cedric Pioline thinks that it’s almost game over for Federer

It’s not a good moment for King Roger.

The Swiss Maestro dropped his rankings to an unceremonious world no.5 to struggle to win even against low ranked players. There have been many factors that have brought the Maestro to this situation. One is that his opponents are raising and raising their tennis. Another one is that Roger is battling with his body and his age.

The bad news of the year is that Roger is not recovering from his historical problem: a back pain. Once he used to recover during the tournaments, now it seems that even long periods of rest and rehabilitation are not fixing the problem.

Cedric Pioline. Federer may retire at the end of 2014

Former world no.5 Cedric Pioline released an interview to the Tennis News Brazil saying “I do not see Federer winning another Grand Slam.

At the level that the others are at like Murray, Djokovic and Nadal, with his physical problems, he doesn’t have enough energy to win another Grand Slam. It’s a mix of things, he’s almost 32, he’s is getting older, he has a family, and after 10 years near or at the top, your motivation drops, your desire to be in airports jumping tournament from to tournament decreases.

The moment of Federer is dissipating little by little and he can see it falling. The media is hammering him, it’s getting into his head. I do not know when he will stop, and surely he will play at least another year, but don’t be surprised if he retires at the end of 2014.”

A couple of years ago Martina Navratilova said Roger would have never hit the world no.1 spot anymore. After few months he went back to the top of rankings once again after winning a wonderful Wimbledon.

Is time for another tennis legend to miss another prediction about Roger?
