Naomi Osaka is about to play Ajla Tomljanovic in her first match at the Miami Open. The Japanese no.1 has 7 titles under her belts and curiously, more than 50% of them (4) slams.
The last time that Naomi Osaka won a tournament that was not a slam was back in September 2019 when she conquered Beijing beating Ashleigh Barty in the final 3-6 6-3 6-2.
Naomi has recently stated that even if winning majors is a priority, she wants to find more continuity and also conquer some other big titles.
Osaka said that she doesn’t feel any pressure in Miami given her poor record in South Florida, where she has never managed to go beyond the 3rd round in 4 appearances.

Ranked no.2, the Japanese played her last match on the 20th of February when she overcame Jennifer Brady 6-4 6-3 in the final of the Australian Open to win her 7th career title.
Currently, during this year Osaka has managed to achieve a composed 10-0 win-loss record. Naomi has won 1 title at the Australian Open.

At the moment ranked no.77, Ajla owns a 4-5 match record in 2021. Tomljanovic is playing in Miami where she toppled Anastasia Potapova 7-5 6-0.
Ajla Tomljanovic will fight against Osaka in the 2nd round. They have never played each other till now in top competitions.
