Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils have been dating for more than 2 years and their relationship is becoming more and more solid. Gael and Svitolina’s runs at the current Australian Open are quite different. The French champion had a heartbreaking loss in the 1st round at the hands of Emil Ruusuvuori. Elina had a good straight sets win over a dangerous Bouzkova in the opener.

Gael looked extremely distraught during the press conference the followed his defeat to burst into tears. In 2020, Monfils was looking incredibly strong before the Pandemic halted the tours. Gael won 12 consecutive matches at the beginning of the season winning 2 consecutive titles in Marseille and Rotterdam. He was stopped only in the semifinal in Dubai by the great Novak Djokovic. That was February and he hasn’t won a single match since then.
After beating Bouzkova, Elina sent a lovely message to Gael writing his name on the camera and with a heart.

Elina will face Coco Guaff in the second round of the Australian Open. They have never played each other so far.
