Super favourite Nadal to clash with Ferrer for the 8th French Open crown!

David Ferrer reaches his first Grand Slam final, but that is against the worst possible opponent (in tennis history?): Rafa on Clay!

David’s path

Ferrer has reached the final in style without dropping a single set, but we need to be fair as David didn’t clash with “super top players”. Actually the only top 10 was a disappointing Tsonga in the semis.

In the first round he defeated world no.63 Marinko Matosevic, then world no. 47 Albert Montanes, world no. 43 Feliciano Lopez, world no. 25 Kevin Anderson, world no.34 Tommy Robredo and then Tsonga…all in straight sets… but still not huge tests.

Rafa’s Path

The King of Clay had a tougher road to the final to beat Nishikori, trash a super Wawrinka 6-2 6-3 6-1 to then win the epic semifinal vs. Nole.

From Rafa

Rafa does think he is the favorite to comment  “I don’t feel favourite. I feel that I am finalist. Tomorrow will be a great day for the sport in Spain. It is very difficult to have Spanish players in the final of a Grand Slam.”

Head to head

Head to head is 19-4 for Rafa (16-1 on clay). Nadal is the overwhelming favorite to win his 8th title, but David got to this final perfectly prepared without having conceded a single set.

Our Pick

Definitely Rafa unless the King of Clay has some physical problems.
