Stefanos to help charities with the Greek restaurant Stalactites promoting the"Tsitsipas souvlaki"

Tsitsipas Souvlaki

Stefanos Tsitsipas has a huge following in Melbourne that is the city in the world with the largest Greek community outside Greece and Cyprus (173,598 Greeks according to the 2016 census). The world no.6 is so famous in Melbourne that Greek restaurant institution Stalactites decided to partner again with him to rel-launch the famous “Tsitsipas souvlaki.”

The donation

100% of the so-called “Tsitsipas souvlaki” sales will help 2 charities:  SecondBite (based in Melbourne) and ‘Together for the Children’ that is an organization supported by Stefanos.

Tsitsipas commented:

“I feel at home in Melbourne and I love being welcomed by the Greek community here. All throughout quarantine I’d been craving a Stalactites souvlaki so I’m excited to finally be here with my team and family,” says Tsitsipas.

Nicole Papasavas, co-owner of Stalactites, commented:

“Naming a souvlaki after our Australian Open Hellenic heroes has been an ongoing tradition of ours since 2006 and we are thrilled to team up with Tsitsipas again. After the year that was it seems important now more than ever to support our community and we encourage everyone to come down and try the souvlaki. We promise it won’t disappoint, and it’ll taste even better knowing it’s for a good cause.”

The Tsitsipas Souvlaki

The Souvlaki is sold for $17 and that includes lamb gyros, tomato, tzatziki, fresh pomegranate, onion, mint, crumbled feta and chips. Last year, Stefanos and Stalactites raised $5,000 with this initiative that was donated to help the bushfire relief. Besides that, Tsitsipas didn’t have a great run at the Australian Open, where he lost in the 3rd round.
