Djokovic beats Kohlschreiber to dedicate the win to his childhood coach Jelena Gencic

Difficult match for Nole!

The Serb had an emotional weekend after he learned that his dear coach Jelena Gencic, passed away last Saturday at the age of 77. Nole was devastated by the news to be not able to have the post match interview after beating Dimitrov.

There was a question mark about his mental performance against the German, but once again Djokovic demonstrated once again why he is the world no.1.

The match with Philip was tricky as Nole lost the opening set 6-4. Then the Serb regrouped to win the next 3 sets and get the match in 2 hours and 43 minutes.

From Nole

Part of the post match interview was about Nole’s first coach. “She’s one of the most incredible people I ever knew … Jelena was my first coach, like my second mother.

“We were very close throughout my whole life and she taught me a lot of things that are part of me, part of my character today. I have the nicest memories of her. She was 77 years old, and before she passed away two days ago, last week she was giving lessons to kids.” said Nole

Next vs. Haas

Now time for Djokovic to think about his next match against a surprising Haas that has trashed Youzhny 6-3 6-1 6-1.

Head to head is 4-3 for Nole. 1-0 for the Serb on Clay (Paris 2006 7-5 6-1 7-6(4)). Tommy won the last match this year in Miami when he beat Nole 6-2 6-4 in the forth round.
