Sharapova beats Zheng, but she heavily complains about the the lack of the hawk-eye in Paris

Maria won a good match over the 29-year-old Zheng.

She easily won the first set to then found herself in a tricky second set to finally win it 7-5.

The controversy

The Roland Garros is the only slam not to use the hawk-eye as the umpires should be able to judge from the marks left on the court. That is not always the case.

The Russian Beauty was hugely upset when she lost a game a game after her shot was called out (and that was in) as the umpire looked at the wrong mark.

“The umpire didn’t recognise that the mark he pointed out was about a foot away from the actual mark,” said an upset Maria.

“That’s a huge question-mark. All the other Grand Slams use Hawk-Eye, and although I accept it’s easier with the red clay, I still don’t see why we don’t have a system like this here.”

Next vs. Sloane Stephens

There is no much time for Maria to further discuss the issue as she is going to have a tricky match now against Sloane Stephens as the young America has just defeated Erakovic 6/4 6/7(5) 6/3. Head to head is 2-0 for Maria that has trashed Sloane few weeks ago in Rome 6-2 6-1.
