What an amazing match from Li Na! The Chinese had the improbable task to beat Maria Sharapova that has been annihilating all her opponents to get to this semifinal as the hot favourite.
Li Na surprized everybody playing just an incredible tennis to beat Maria in 93 minutes. To tell the truth the result was a bit harsh for Maria that tried to do everything to stop Li Na.
Maybe something that Sharapova really missed in her tennis was the use of variations. It happened also in a some matches against Azarenka in 2012 when Vika was really superior and Maria was sticking to her tennis that was’t matching up really well with the Belarussian’s. Today Maria had to change something, she didn’t do it… and she lost.

“Every time I’m back in Australia, I always feel something here,” said the Chinese. “I always play well here. Everyone can be nervous in a final, so I have to enjoy it. I’m looking forward to it.”

“I think she played a really great match,” said the Russian beauty. “She was certainly much more aggressive than I was and dictating the play.
“I was always on the defence. When I had my opportunities and break points in games that went to deuce, I don’t think any of them really went my way today.”
