Ana Ivanovic had a very good game to defeat Tamira Paszek 6-1 6-2 in just 66 minutes. Seed no.10 Caroline Wozniacki won also a comfortable match with Mervana Jugic-Salkic (world no. 204) 6-1 6-2 in just 1 hour.
In ther second round, Ivanovic will play Simona Hapel (6-1 6-0 on Olga Govorstova). Wozniacki will face either Sorana Cirstea or Ons Jabeur.
Australian qualifier and world no.131 Anastasia Rodionova had a surprising win against Chinese no.2 Jie Zheng 6-2 6-3. Rodionova will face Agniszka Radwanska in the second round.
In the other matches of the day Medina Garrigues (rank no.58) has been upset by lucky loser and world no.160 Daria Gavrilova.
