Wozniacki, Kvitova and Stosur win opener in Dubai

No surprises in the second day of the 2013 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.. at least on the court.

Sara Errani managed to defeat last year’s finalist Julia Gorges in 3 tough sets in more than 2 hours. 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova had a good start of the tournament to defeat Daniela Hantuchova 6-2 6-1 in 65 minutes. Sam Stosur downed Makarova 6-3 6-1 in just 75 minutes.

Wozniacki

Former world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki had a fine match against Lucie Safarova to concede only 4 games in 1 hour. “For me, I’m just really enjoying the tennis and happy to be out there,” said Caroline. “I think at one point it was just a job and going and playing, but I feel like I’ve gotten that hunger back and that enjoyment of the game.”

Serena

As Victoria Azarenka retired from the tournament because of a foot injury, Serena Williams seems to be the hot favorite to win this tournament to have also good comments about her fitness. “I feel so much better this week,” Williams said. “I feel like a completely different athlete, a completely different person.”
