Nishikori triumphs in Memphis

It took just 67 minutes for Kei to win his 1st title of the season.

Nishikori had a very solid tennis to win 60 points vs Feliciano’s 40. The Japanese won 79 points on his first serve and 80 on his second. Lopez was struggling a lot on his second serve to commit 3 double faults and win only 3 points out of 19. For this reason the Spaniard was broken 4 times on 9 service games!

From Nishikori

“I’m very happy with the way I played today,” said Kei. “To win this title is an amazing feeling. I tried to concentrate on all the important points. I served really well this week. I was practising a lot and it’s getting better. Hopefully I can win a couple more titles. It’s been a good start to the year.”

This is Nishikori’s 3rd ATP title after Tokyo 2012 and Delray Beach 2008.

From Lopez

“I didn’t play a bad match. He was very aggressive from the beginning,” Lopez said. “I think he probably played his best. I have no regrets. I tried everything I could and he was just the better player today. I hope to keep playing like I did this week.”
